The future looks bright at Mossley CC

Mossley Cricket Club launched it’s brand new ‘All Stars’ programme on Friday 11th May. Thirteen brand new families attended the session at the club’s home on Moss Road. The programme is aimed at 5-8 year olds but Mossley CC continued its ‘family friendly’ approach and the whole family participated in the 45 minute session. Kicking off at 5.30pm, 13 ‘all stars’, their Mums, Dads, Brothers, Sisters, Grans and Grandads participated in the first session lead by Laura Griffiths and Steve Austin ably supported by Sports Coaching North West Coaches Ben Guildford and Ed Parrish.

The high energy session included the fundamentals of cricket; throwing, catching and batting with the highlight of the session being a team ‘stump smashing’ session! Towards the end, the group were joined by 1st team players including Club Captain Gareth Cresswell, Wicket Keeper and 1st Team Vice Captain Charles Wright, all rounder Ben Chudleigh and opening bowler Kieran Turner. The ‘all stars’ took on the four 1st teamers in a mini catching game that was easily won by the ‘all stars’!

Whilst the group enjoyed the cricket, Carl Nancollas, assisted by Barry Carney, Peter Goodwin and Adrian French fired up the BBQ with burgers and sausages supplied by Glebe Farm, Astbury. Later on the group were joined by our current junior section who showed the ‘all stars’ what a junior training session looks like whilst the new families tucked into Carl’s BBQ!

The evening quickly passed with lots of music, fun and making new friends. It concluded with the u13s and U11s and the ‘all stars’ whose bed times had been extended significantly, in a game of football! An extremely successful evening at Mossley Cricket Club!

There is still time to sign up to the all stars programme, visit www.mossleycricketclub.co.uk/all-stars-2018 for details! #allstarscricket #bigmoments #cricket #congleton
