Top of the table Mossley CC 1XI faced Haslington 3XI at Moss Road. Haslington won the toss and chose to bat. Opening bowlers Kieran Turner and Tony Brown made light work of dismissing the opening Haslington batsmen for only 4 runs. Brown went on to skittle the middle order with only a further 52 runs scored. Brown was well supported by spinner Ryan Speak who removed three of Haslington’s batsmen without them scoring a single run.
Both Brown and Speak continued to build on their excellent bowling figures this season, Brown bowling 13 overs, taking 5 wickets for 34 runs. Speak bowled 6.3 overs taking four wickets for just 21 runs. Two excellent bowling performances supported by Carl Nancollas, Alfie Tideswell and Gareth Cresswell all taking two catches and Tom Pearson taking one, to see Haslington finish on 73 all out. With a change to the top of the order, regular opener Tom Pearson was joined at the crease by Ben Chudleigh who almost single-handedly saw Mossley over the line. Scoring 59 of the 74 required, Chudleigh hit 9 boundaries including 8 fours and one six to complete a straight forward win for the home side. Mossley 1XI continue to battle for top spot with Malpas with only 3 games left.
