Chris "Lowbo" Lowe

Sadly, Mossley CC lost one of its own on Sunday 4/3/18 with the sudden passing of Chris Lowe. Chris joined Mossley CC from Knypersley in 2008 and soon became a treasured member of the Mossley family, playing over 100 games for the club. In his ten years with us he scored 1915 runs with a top score of 118 not out against Sandbach in his first season.

Chris was a hard hitting, middle order batsman who always sought to intimidate the opposition bowlers with his aggressive approach to batting. Chris was passionate about batting, often sharing tales of his achievements at the crease. Many players past and present have benefited from his wealth of experience. When in full flow he was indeed a joy to watch. Chris often said that there was no greater feeling than that gained from hitting the fast bowler back over his head for a boundary.

In the field Chris's love and understanding of the game made him a source of constant support to whichever Captain he played under. He could often be heard, from his position in the slips, encouraging the younger members of the team, while giving some good humoured "sledging" to the opposition.

Since Chris's passing it has become clear just how much he meant to club members with many wanting to share their memories of good times with him both on and off the field. In recent times Chris embraced the club's new vision to move forward, spending numerous hours at the club and planning social events which would help to give Mossley CC the bright future he believed in.

All members of Mossley CC send their sympathies and condolences to Chris's family at this sad time. The club will be discussing and making plans to ensure that Chris will always be remembered as an important part of the Mossley CC family.
