Chairman's Letter

Hi All,

As I start to write this message it's just 6 weeks to the start of the 2018 season.

As you will be aware this close season has been quite revolutionary since the adoption of the new Development Plan at the AGM. Things have moved apace with a tremendous amount of work being done in the background. Clear evidence of our progress can be seen on practice nights with the introduction of coaches from SCNW with the resultant increase in attendees both juniors and seniors and the development of our fantastic website. Be assured that massive progress is also being made on improving facilities, raising funds and increasing membership.

It makes me feel really proud to be part of this exciting time in the history of our club. Club spirit is marvellous at the moment with a buzz around the place. Look at the numbers attending training, the support at pavilion make over days, the level of publicity we are receiving, the introduction of the fantasy cricket league, the donations to the six sixes challenge, our new sponsors: James and Nicholson with MORE to be announced and the introduction of All Stars starting  early May.

Things have not been straightforward but the decision to try to move the Club forward rather that exist as we were and face the prospect of folding like a number of other clubs has clearly been the RIGHT one. It's amazing what can be achieved when a team work together for a common goal. It will continue to be hard work in the future but a firm foundation has been put in place during the last few months.

We are well on the way to providing the "inclusive ethos" as outlined in our Mission Statement having welcomed a number of new players and families in line with our vision to become a social hub for the community.

We approach the coming season with great optimism. We have hopes for promotion for the 1st Xl and feel confident that there will be an improvement for all our teams across the board both junior and senior.

Can I also emphasise to everyone the need to "get onboard" when it comes to raising club funds. Think about what you can do for your club. Can you help organise a social event? Would you be prepared to join a social committee dedicated to raising funds from a fundraising programme?

Finally Mossley CC said a last farewell to our friend Chris Lowe this week at his funeral at Smallwood on Monday. Over 20 club members joined with family and friends to celebrate Chris's life. We, as a club, are making plans to properly remember Chris.Details to follow in the coming weeks.

Thank you all for your continued support.

"Keep on trucking"

Steve Austin
